AANZ promotes unity and mutual co-existence among the various Afghan communities. It’s our vision to help maintain Afghan cultural, national and religious values, while at the same time helping Afghan communities adapt, assimilate and become active members of the wider New Zealand society and economy.

Education is a cornerstone AANZ strategy. AANZ is at the heart of initiating and implementing Afghan youth education programs that are focused on Afghan native languages of Dari and Pashto as well as Islamic religious classes. The program currently has 46 students.

More classes at the Community Action Centre are planned for the near future. In addition, classes will also be initiated at the Wesley Community Hall, in Mt Roskill.
Afghan Youths are at the forefront of ANZ activities. Indeed, the current AANZ Executive Committee mainly consists of young Afghans whom predominantly studied in New Zealand.
Initiating youth programmes, mainly focused on education, cultural-religious values and sports, is a fundamental strategy of the new AANZ board.

AANZ has a long-standing Afghan women’s programme, focused on sewing classes, parenting and healthy living.
Fahima Saeid has made important contributions to the AANZ Women’s programme. She is the current coordinator of the programme.
